To Your Supernova Boudoir Experience Prep Guide

ALL THE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Hello, Gorgeous!

Welcome to one of the most wonderful, unique, and empowering experiences you’ll ever have as a woman: taking time, just for you, to perfectly capture your beauty and femininity in the form of fine art.

Every woman has a unique and captivating beauty to offer – inside and out. Whether you are speckled with freckles, or a bit smaller or larger than you wish to be, or have a few areas you feel self-conscious about (don’t we all?!), it doesn’t matter. Drawing out what makes you unique and beautiful is one of my greatest pleasures.

So welcome to the beginning of your intimate portrait experience! Let me guide you through it all and just worry about how much fun you’re going to have.

xoxo, Jennifer

Getting Ready Timeline

1-2 Months Prior To Your Session

  • Start drinking ALL THE WATER. Upping your aqua intake will help you achieve beautiful, glowing skin.
  • Start shopping for outfits! Hit up places like Frederick’s of Hollywood, Yandy.com, and Victoria’s Secret. Other places to score lingerie: Amazon and Aliexpress, but keep in mind shipping times.
  • Don’t get any tattoos or piercings at least ONE MONTH prior to your session. Tats and piercings are fab, but the camera picks up details, and you want your skin to look amazing instead of being in the middle of the healing process. If you have a vision that includes tattoos, let’s chat! I love them!

1-2 Weeks Prior To Your Session

  • The week before your session, cut out carbs and sugars, as well as overly-processed foods. Your skin will say thank you and you will look ravishing the day of your session.
  • If you regularly visit a salon for cut and color, make sure you plan ahead and do so approximately two weeks before your session. This give you time to correct any potential mistakes and allow the cut and color to settle in.

3-5 Days Prior To Your Session

  • Get waxed (bikini, lip, brow—whatever your normal routine is) a few days prior to your session to make sure any redness or irritation has subsided. NOTE: if waxing or shaving isn’t your thing, don’t feel obligated to do it!
  • Try on outfits and narrow down your wardrobe selection.
  • Pamper yourself with a mani/pedi a few days before your session. You deserve the whole experience and that includes a trip to the salon!

The Day Before Your Session

  • Drink plenty of water for radiant skin.
  • Try on all outfits and accessories to make doubly sure everything fits well. Don’t remove your tags; if you don’t wear it, you can return it.
  • Pack your bag!
  • Wash and dry your hair with a blowout right before bed unless you are coming with your hair naturally curly or previously styled.
  • Moisturize your skin all over before bedtime.
  • Most important of all: Get a good night’s sleep!

The Day Of Your Session

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Use a clear deodorant.
  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing prior to arrival at Supernova Boudoir. I recommend coming braless! You can change privately here.
  • Eat something light but filling that won’t make you feel bloated. Trust me, you’re going to burn it off! I promise!
  • Make sure you allow plenty of time to get ready and to get to your session.

Some DO's and DON'Ts

DON’T spray tan, lotion tan, or tan in a tanning bed prior to your session; you should come with your skin looking as natural as possible because that’s when it looks its most beautiful! Spray tans also don’t photograph well and turn out a little orange in camera.

DON’T try a brand new cut or color before your session. Stick with what you know you love!

DO get outside your comfort zone with at least one outfit. You never know, it might turn out to be the set you love the most!

DON’T worry about being nervous; everyone is at first!

DO have an absolute blast and set your worries at my door. ❤️

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

Hey girl, I got you. Your job is to show up and that is it! My job is to help you feel relaxed and pose you from the tips of your fingers, to your eyelashes, to your hair. I’ll walk you through each step as I look through my camera to make sure you look beautiful!

I don’t share your photos with anyone or anywhere unless you’ve given me permission. Check out my blog post on Privacy to read more!

Yep! Pro hair and makeup is included in your session fee. All you need to do is come with clean, dry hair (I recommend blowing it out the night before your session) and a clean, moisturized face.

Girl, YES! Let me ask you this: how good would you feel to wake up every single day to a beautiful photo of yourself that you love hanging above your bed? Now that is getting your day off on the right foot! Even before coffee!

I always recommend my clients arrive with 1-2 staples, a pair of black and/or nude high heels, and black and nude thongs to wear under my studio garments. But you are welcome to wear what I have in the studio! I supply bodysuits, two pieces, knee socks, crop tops, and my fav – fishnets!

No, girl, you totally do not. You decide your level of comfort. But most clients decide to strip even if they originally had not planned to. That’s how freeing these sessions can be!

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY SESSION?

After we wrap your session, I will send you out for a late lunch (about an hour) while I start uploading and culling your photos to the final best.. After you are done with lunch, you’ll head back into the studio for your big reveal and ordering appointment! This is when you will see your images for the first time and then choose which you would like to purchase, and what kind of products you want, whether that’s a luxury album, the digitals, or big, beautiful wall art!
